...a gorgeous-sounding take on the Washington Irving tale... It's a lush blend of folk, bluegrass, and gospel to saver.' ~Broadway Direct
An actor-musician retelling of Washington Irving's Rip Van Winkle.
It's 1776, early America, and a young immigrant named Rip Van Winkle is disillusioned with his life as a farmer and a family man. He daydreams about finding a better world, without hard work or pain. One night, he is enticed in by a group of ghosts he meets in the forest. He drinks a magical brew and falls into a deep sleep... 200 years in the future Rip wakes up in modern-day New York. He clumsily adapts to his new life in a a strange and individualist society, and seems to be living his dream, but is it really all it appears? How will Rip cope with the darker side of modern society, and will he manage to return home to his wife and children?

I really loved this show...a lovely story and some really memorable songs - there were people humming the final one during the interval... ~London Theatre News
